My fancy running shoes!!
Everyone knows I hate shopping. I would rather wear a pair of jeans to death then have to get new ones. Just the time and takes, the trying on and off, in and out different stores, and the crowd of people. But, I did it!! I first watched videos on YouTube to know what to look for in a running shoe and how to buy them. I finally found the ones with much help with a store clerk. Perfect fit and so comfortable. They cost a whopping $89 at the Nike outlet store. I told her I would come back black Friday to get the deal of 20% off. She insisted I buy them and then come back for a refund of the difference in price. Well that sounded like more work and hassle then just coming back in getting them. So I opted to wait. Glad I did!! Well who knew everyone would come out to the outlets at 11:00pm to start shopping the night before Black Friday. When I drove through the outlets my mouth hung open from all the crazy people! (me being one of them!!) Lines were wrapping around the stores and the parking lot was full. Well I was blessed to have a front parking spot right in front of the doors of Nike Outlet. I kept checking to be sure it wasn't a handicapped spot. Why was it that everyone passed this spot? I gladly parked into it!! Well I'm glad I waited I got the shoes for $59, 2 pair of running pants, 2 shirts and a running cap for $100. Now I look like a professional. If I only I felt like one. I was there at 11:00 and back home by 11:30. Tada done, I'm in and out!! I promised my mom I wouldn't wear the shoes to the farm or anywhere else only to run in. I sit and think of how my mom has supported me no matter what I've chose to do. She always bought me something to show her support. When I did nursing she bought me my first stethoscope with my name engraved and a watch for vitals, when I painted she bought me a art table built just for me and supplied all brushes and paints. Always there with a supportive hug too! Even though she thinks I'm crazy doing this she is still one of my biggest cheerleaders!! Thanks to her I will have a treadmill to use. I really really nice one!! I feel like a little kid. I can't wait to wear my new shoes!! I remember getting new shoes when I was kid. Thinking they made me jump higher and run faster. Well now that I'm old I find that is not the case. The late Bill Bulla my pastor, my spiritual mentor, my friend, and the husband of my best friend made me a picture with his computer several years ago. I have kept this picture because it has my one of my favorite verses (1 Timothy 4:7) on it and it was made just for me. I'll have to scan it and try to paste it on here so all can see. Interesting enough it has a dove, a pair of running shoes, and a runner. Prophetic huh? Another glory bump moment would be his wife used the same verse on his card at his memorial service. So what am I running for? I'm running for my friends I've lost due to cancer and those friends who have survived. Bill Bulla, Diane, Wilbur, Doris, Shirley, Wanda, Regina, Patty, Joan, Woody, Mom, Hunter, this is also close to Kim's heart because she recently lost her mom to cancer. I'm taking their fighting spirit with me over the finish line!!
